Unser Testpiloten unterziehen die Schirme einem harten Testprogramm, das alle Flugfiguren umfasst, die auch bei den späteren LTF-Testflügen überprüft werden:

Our testpilots fly a tough test program with all the elements that are later tested during the LTF-Tests in the classification flights.

Fullstall Trudeln Steilspirale Frontales Einklappen Einseitiges Einklappen Sackflug usw.

Fullstall Spin Twist Frontal collapse Asymmetric collapse Parachutal stall etc.

Natürlich wird auch die ein oder andere Aufgabe über die LTF-Tests hinaus geflogen, um z.B. die SAT-Tauglichkeit oder die Möglichkeit eines Loops zu checken. Wir überlassen halt nichts dem Zufall!

Several elements that are not part of the LTF-classification however are tested: how about the SAT capability or the possibility to fly a loop with the glider? It is better to check everything!

Der Schirm wird bei den Testflügen zur optischen Kontrolle in allen möglichen Ansichten fotografiert.

During the test flights we take a lot of pictures from the canopy from all perspectives to make optical checks.

Wie wird ein Schirm getrimmt? Während der Testflüge wird der Schirm getrimmt. Dies geschieht hauptsächlich über die Variation der Leinenlängen bzw. Korrekturen des gesamten Leinenplans. Änderungen am Profil sind nur in den seltensten Fällen nötig.

How do we trim the glider? A major part of the test flights is the trimming of the glider. We do this through the variation of the line length or we change the complete line plan. We rarely  need to change the profile and so the trimming is a big part in the test flights.

Um den Schirm zu trimmen, werden die Leinen der Galerien unterschiedlich geknüpft und dann geflogen. Aus einer ganzen Serie von Flügen ergibt sich dann der optimale Trimm für die Produktion.

To trim the canopy we change the length of the lines in a gallery, note the length and fly the test program. A complete series of flights is necessary to find the optimal trim for the production of the glider.

Welchen Einfluss hat der Testpilot? Die Testpiloten haben einen entscheidenden Einfluss auf die gesamte Schirmentwicklung. Durch sie wird das Handling des Schirms und damit die Charakteristik bestimmt. Diese gilt es nicht nur für einen Schirm fest zu legen, sondern über die gesamte Modellpalette abzustimmen, um Auf- und Umsteigern ein möglicht gleich bleibendes Handling zu gewährleisten.

Which influence does the test pilot have? The test pilots strongly influence the development process. They decide on the handling and the typical characteristics. This characteristics should not only be fixed for one glider but for the complete product range. So it is easy for pilots who want to upgrade there glider to compare the characteristics they are used to.
