Der Dragon III wird die Erfolgsgeschichte des Independence-Intermediates bei den 1-2er Schirmen fortführen. Der Dragon III ist eine komplette Neukonstruktion und nicht etwa nur ein Update des Vorgängermodells!

The new Dragon III will continue the success history of the independence-intermediates within the LTF1-2 range. The new Dragon3 is a completely new designed glider and not only an update of the predecessor model!

So wurde zum Beispiel ein neues Profilmaterial verwendet, das sich durch eine geringere Diagonaldehnung auszeichnet, was der Kappe mehr Steifigkeit verleiht und somit die Leistung des neuen Dragon III klar erhöht.

So, for example, a new profile-material is used for the new Dragon3, which gets a smaller diagonal-extension. Thereby the canopy is getting more stiff, what improves the performance clearly.

Auch das Handling konnte nochmals verbessert werden. Das Flugverhalten ist wieder absolut independence-typisch und wird sowohl Genuss- als auch Streckenflieger gleichermaßen ansprechen. Die für einen 1-2er Schirm ansprechende Dynamik ist in Verbindung mit dem gutmütigen, fehlerverzeihenden Extremflugverhalten auch für "Freestyler" unter den Independence-Piloten ein Kriterium, das den Dragon3 zu einem Top-Intermediate macht

Also the handling was improved again, the flying-characteristics are typical independence like. So the Dragon3 is first choice for leisure- and xc-pilots. The very good dynamic for a LTF1-2 glider combined with the safe and good-natured extremeflight behaviour is a point which makes the Dragon also for “freestyle”-pilots to a very good intermediate glider.

Neben Schmutz-Auslassöffnungen am Stabilo, verfügt der Dragon III ebenfalls über eine variable Hinterkantenspannung, wie sie auch beim Merlin zum Einsatz kommt. Dabei werden die Bremsangriffspunkte an der Hinterkante durch kleine korrosionsfreie Stahlringe auf jeweils zwei Angriffspunkte umgelenkt, was dazu führt, dass die Abströmkante beim Anbremsen leicht gerafft wird. Dies erhöht einerseits die Effektivität der Bremse und wirkt sich andererseits sehr positiv auf die Leistung aus. Da insgesamt weniger Bremsleinen vorhanden sind wird der Luftwiderstand verringert und so das Gleiten, vor allem gegen den Wind, deutlich verbessert.

Beside openings with hook+loop fasteners at the wingtips to get dirt out of the glider, the new Dragon3 has a variable rear-edge-tension like it is also used at the new Merlin. Thereby every upper line of the brake is running through a small corrosion-free metal ring and is splitted up on two points, so that the rear edge is contracted a little bit during braking. This makes the brake itself more effective and improves the performance clearly, because less brakelines are needed what reduces the drag of the glider and offers so a much better gliding, specially against the wind.
